Mommy scratchy. Coat color slowly appearing and ears developing. They are growing fast.
It is often said in the hammie world that a pregnant hammie or mommy hammie are aggressive in nature, well… the saying is true to a certain degree as I was bitten by Blackie while I get a hold of her to return her to her cage after a short breather. We are close and I believe she didn’t mean it. It started as a nibble then a deep one. Perhaps she’s hungry.
Here’s a shot of the pups. There are 7 in the photo, so 3 didn’t make it.
Good mama, she was rather busy most of the time picking her pup up and looked undecided on where to place them. Here’s blackie nursing and resting as she should.
Blackie our beloved hammie gave birth to approximately 10 pups on the 13th-9-09 afternoon while we were out. She was highly energetic and was rummaging around her cage, we even let her out for a quick stroll.
Check out Sylvia’s maneuvers! She does that all the time! She’s a good hammie mommy! No?
Most of the pups’ eyes are open now and also just learned fighting. Another week is all they’ve got before housed individually. Nasty!
They groom, drink from the bottle, runs around and snack a lot. Sylvia had a hard time picking up the pups which is everywhere back to the nest.
